Zhaoxin Unveils KH-50000 Series: High-Performance Server Processors with Advanced Chiplet Architecture
Zhaoxin, a leading Chinese semiconductor company, has introduced its most advanced server processor lineup to date—the KH-50000 series. This new family of CPUs leverages a sophisticated chiplet architecture, clustering 12 compute dies around a central I/O die to deliver exceptional scalability and performance for modern data center workloads.
Up to 384 Cores for Demanding Enterprise Applications
The flagship models in the KH-50000 series offer up to 96 high-performance cores per socket, supporting both dual- and quad-socket server configurations. This enables system builders to deploy servers with as many as 384 cores, making the KH-50000 an attractive solution for cloud computing, AI inference, big data analytics, and a wide range of enterprise applications.
Zhaoxin specifies base clock speeds of 2.2 GHz and 2.6 GHz, with boost frequencies reaching up to 3.0 GHz. The processors feature a substantial shared L3 cache, scaling up to 384 MB, to support data-intensive workloads and improve overall throughput.
Advanced Memory and I/O Capabilities
The KH-50000 series introduces support for 12 channels of DDR5 ECC RDIMM memory per socket, with configurations designed to accommodate up to 3 TB of memory per processor. This significant memory bandwidth and capacity are well-suited for high-performance computing and virtualization environments.
On the connectivity front, the platform delivers 128 lanes of PCIe 5.0 with ZPI/CXL semantics, along with 16 additional PCIe 4.0 lanes, and maintains compatibility with legacy SATA and USB interfaces. Zhaoxin has also developed a new ZPI 5.0 interconnect, engineered to boost bandwidth and reduce both latency and power consumption in multi-socket deployments. This innovation allows servers to scale performance efficiently without proportional increases in energy usage.
Compatibility, Security, and Platform Evolution
The KH-50000 processors maintain full compatibility with x86 32/64-bit instruction sets, including AVX2 support, ensuring seamless integration with existing enterprise software stacks. Integrated cryptographic accelerators address regional security standards, while extended platform validation and vendor support reinforce reliability for mission-critical deployments.
Compared to the previous KH-40000 generation launched in 2022, the KH-50000 series triples the maximum core count, transitions from DDR4 to DDR5 memory, significantly increases cache capacity, and upgrades platform I/O to the latest standards. These enhancements position Zhaoxin as a competitive player in the high-density server processor market.
Roadmap and Future Developments
Zhaoxin has indicated that system validation with partners is underway, with rollout to domestic vendors expected in the coming months. The company also hinted at future developments, including KX consumer processors and AI-focused products featuring integrated NPUs for accelerated machine learning workloads. The KH-50000 series underscores Zhaoxin’s commitment to domestic supply chain independence and robust support for the evolving needs of enterprise and cloud infrastructure.
